Project by EDOHARD & Claudia BocaSound Design by Carlo Covelli
Audiovisual Installation
This installation goes beyond an artistic exhibition, hoping to become a powerful tool for raising awareness and social denunciation. A challenge to patriarchal society to stop ignoring gender violence, to condemn it and actively counter it.
CONCEPT
MADE IN ITALY is a light installation which is not meant to celebrate the brand of Italian excellence in design or fashion, but to be a statement against gender-based violence in our country.
The thread of red light across the room is a symbol of the unstoppable desire for possession, abuse and death. An ‘all homegrown’ gender violence, which is inherent in our society and which, in most cases, is perpetrated daily by partners, relatives or friends against individuals or groups of people on the basis of gender, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity.
The spatialised audio increases the immersiveness of the installation, as it is composed of the recording of names transcribed by the National Observatory of Feminicides, Lesbicides and Trans*cides of the Feminist and Transfeminist Movement Non Una Di Meno, from 1 January 2025 to the present.
The branches in the room are a data visualisation, visually representing the total number of people killed in this time frame: 91 lives cut short.
