COURSE DESCRIPTION

Over the last twenty years the concept of immersive media has shifted from a spectacular format to an experiential environment.
The lecture analyses this transformation through three main phases: the emotional spectacle, the immersive installation and the contemporary paradigm of multi-input environments.
Starting from case studies developed as composer and co-author of immersive projects, the lecture explores how sound, architecture, light, video and artificial intelligence have progressively redefined the grammar of experience.
Immersive is no longer a medium but a perceptual ecosystem. The audience is no longer a spectator but a body situated in space.
The lecture therefore proposes a critical reading of the evolution of immersive language and introduces a design model where sound composition, spatial design and interaction become tools for building complex narrative environments.

Luca Longobardi

Composer, multimedia artist and lecturer

Luca Longobardi is a composer, pianist and multimedia artist working across music, installation and immersive environments. After studying at the Manhattan School of Music and conducting research in digital audio restoration, he developed a language that integrates composition, sound design, architectural space and interactive technologies.
He is co-author and composer of several immersive projects presented in international museum and installation contexts. His work explores the transition from immersive media as a spectacular format to immersive experience as a complex perceptual environment where sound, light, architecture and artificial intelligence generate sensory ecosystems.
Alongside his artistic production, he carries out curatorial and educational activities focused on new forms of audiovisual narration and listening culture in space.
