From 8 December 2021 to 6 January 2022, the city of Florence is transformed into an open-air gallery hosting digital art projects on the surfaces of the city’s buildings and monuments.

Two of our projects have been accepted and will animate the architectural surface of two of the most iconic buildings in the city: the Spedale degli Innocenti in Piazza SS.Annunziata and Ponte Vecchio.

For the occasion, we involved a collective of Italian artists that includes visual artists, motion designers, 3d designers and sound designers under the name MetaExperience.

We can’t describe the atmosphere we breathed all night long as digital art and underground music transformed the halls of the stunning Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig!

DeWalta, one of the most appreciated producers on the Berlin scene and beyond, performed live surrounded by immersive art shows designed by a team of international artists.

For the audience, an overwhelming experience.
For us, the endless excitement of being back on the dancefloor after so many months away.

We are pleased to announce a new stage in our project to promote Italian digital creativity!   

MEET, the International Centre for Digital Art and Culture located in the heart of Milan, presents for the first time in Italy an exhibition dedicated to digital projects produced in our country by 27 creative studios which stood out for their ability to innovate, experiment and develop new forms of artistic expression.

From July 6th to August 31st, you can immerse yourself in the immersive and video mapping artworks created by 27 Italian digital art studios surprising and fascinating visitors from all over the world with their creativity in recent years. 

A journey through images, sounds and visual narratives made in Italy designed to offer an overview of the styles, languages and techniques used in the production of shows and digital content of the highest level. 

Italian Digital art Experience is an exhibition by MEET, curated by Stefano Fake, in collaboration with Bright Festival.

The collective exhibition stems from the itinerant project Farnesina Digital Art Experience, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. 

 

Exhibition programme:

The group exhibition will include works created by 27 Italian creative studios working in the experimentation and production of digital audiovisual installations, gathered within three thematic areas:

> The main hall will host the first collective immersive art project ever realised in the world: “Farnesina Immersive art Experience”. 

A work lasting over  60 minutes, designed to envelop the spectator in a spectacle of images, sounds and visual narratives inspired by the themes of art, history, literature and current affairs.

> A first gallery will be dedicated to the art of videomapping, with the scale reproduction of the shows realised by Italian digital creators in the international stages of the project. These include the famous show created on the Palazzo della Farnesina, which kicked off the project in 2019.

> The second gallery will host some of the installations that have been hosted in recent years by European festivals.

MEET (www.meetcenter.it) is the International Centre for Digital Art and Culture in Milan. Born with the support of Fondazione Cariplo, it wants to contribute to bridging the Italian digital divide in the conviction that innovation is a cultural fact, even before being technological. In addition to the Meet the Media Guru series of meetings with the protagonists of world innovation, MEET promotes cross-fertilisation programmes between digital creatives and companies, actions and paths dedicated to innovation for culture, exhibition projects, and site-specific installations for Italian and international institutions. A 1500 square metre space that Carlo Ratti Associati has reinterpreted starting from the concept of a digital culture centre, working on the idea of fluidity, interconnection and participation. Main partner of MEET is Intesa Sanpaolo. Partners of the digital culture centre are Artemide, Mediatrade, ETT Solutions and George Brown College in Toronto.

DESCRIPTION

This hands-on workshop delves into the fascinating intersection of photogrammetry, video mapping, and point cloud technology.

 The TD master, Andrew Quinn, will lead an in-depth exploration of point clouds, showcasing how they can be used to generate dynamic text, intricate geometries, and captivating visual effects. His session will also cover advanced rendering techniques, empowering participants to push creative boundaries in digital art and projection.

Mattia Diomede, from LaserEntertainment, will bring his expertise in laser and video mapping to the workshop, offering valuable insights into how these technologies can be seamlessly integrated for impactful storytelling and immersive installations. Participants will gain a practical understanding of laser mapping workflows, along with tips and tricks to achieve professional results.

Andrew QUINN

Computer Graphics Artist & Musician

Andrew Quinn is an Australian computer graphics artist and musician, based in Milan. His works range from video-installations for multi screen and immersive environments, interactive digital sets for dance productions, opera and contemporary music.
His works include performances at international events and festival such as the Venice Biennale of Music, MITO, Fotonica Festival and installations for some important museums and centre worldwide, such as MIAC and Montreux Jazz Foundation.


Mattia DIOMEDI

Video Artist, Scenographer & Lighting Designer

Mattia Diomedi is an Italian video artist, scenographer and lighting designer. He worked as a light designer and video artist in some of the most famous theatres worldwide, including Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Municipal de São Paulo and La Fenice.
Currently, he is involved in a laser design project with Roberto Bolle, the principal dancer of Teatro alla Scala.
Moreover he is Art Director at Laserentertainment, a Milan based studio and production unit specialized in design and realization of multimedia experience that rely on a wide use of different technologies.


Davide SANTINI

Founder of the Deltacut project & Major TouchDesigner Visual Art Developer

Davide Santini is the founder of the Deltacut project and a major visual art developer and pivot in the European community for TouchDesigner. His strong scientific background and attention to the art world grant him an innovative approach to designing and developing technical systems and infrastructures.
Teaching and deploying projects around the globe, he has experience with important brands and Universities. He is also the founder of the Italian e-learning platform SpaghettiDigital.

From 1 to 5 September 2021, the suggestive seafront of Livorno hosted the digital art show that we created on the occasion of the Mascagni Festival, in collaboration with IMMERSIVA.

Seven Italian art studios (made up of visual artists, 3d animators and sound designers) were invited to create an unprecedented video mapping show, inspired by the history and music of the famous Livorno-based composer Pietro Mascagni.

The event, open to the public, was repeated for 5 days, arousing amazement and wonder in the more than 5,000 visitors who attended the video projections on the facade of the Grand Hotel Palazzo.

In questa lecture si esplorerà il ruolo sempre più centrale dell’intelligenza artificiale nel panorama della New Media Art, evidenziando come le tecnologie AI possano trasformare il processo creativo e ampliare le possibilità espressive delle installazioni artistiche e multimediali.

Attraverso una selezione di case study tratti da progetti realizzati, verranno illustrati esempi concreti di come l’AI sia stata integrata per generare contenuti artistici. La lecture offrirà una panoramica pratica e ispirante sull’uso dell’AI nei processi creativi, evidenziando le sue applicazioni più innovative: dall’analisi e interpretazione dei dati per creare contenuti personalizzati, fino all’uso di algoritmi generativi.

L’obiettivo è stimolare la riflessione sulle possibilità offerte dall’intelligenza artificiale, non solo come strumento tecnologico ma come parte integrante di un dialogo creativo tra arte e innovazione.

Riccardo di Palma Music producer e Sound designer, si laurea in Music Engineering al Politecnico di Milano, specializzandosi in programmazione creativa e deep learning. Dal 2024 entra a far parte del team di WOA Studio*, dove cura il sound design, la produzione musicale e l’integrazione di tecnologie AI per installazioni interattive.


WOA Studio* is an international studio based in Milan that specializes in exploring the integration of new technologies to foster connections and encourage deep reflection on the interplay between humans and technology.

Despite the difficulties of the period, Bright Festival Connect returned in Leipzig with its second edition gathering artists, institutions, enterprises and visitors worldwide through the new languages of digital creativity. 

4 days and 3 nights of exciting events, 30+ design studios and international enterprises, 40+ installations, performances and shows ran in the stunning spaces of the Kunstkraftwerk from 21 to 24 October 2021.  

Over 3000 visitors lived a magical journey through digital & interactive installations, immersive art shows, dj sets, light & sound experiences designed by worldwide creative studios and artists.

For the first time, the German duo Verboten Berlin performed live surrounded by 360 immersive art shows! 

Fourteen of the best Italian digital artists met up to design this extraordinary immersive art experience; an exciting path through multimedia narratives and new technologies, offering a wide overview of the most innovative styles and techniques in digital production!

Respecting all safety regulations, a limited number of visitors were allowed to attend this unedited show, designed to celebrate the connection between cultures and countries through the new languages of contemporary art.

DESCRIZIONE
Il workshop si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare e applicare in scala le varie fasi di lavorazione necessarie per realizzare un’opera di interazione audio video in tempo reale.

 

Sperimentando sulle peculiarità della relazione esistente tra Ableton Live e Max8-Jitter, vengono forniti gli strumenti teorico-pratici per realizzare delle miniature creative, in cui la relazione tra gli eventi sonori e la materia visiva sia parte strutturale dell’opera.

 

La prima parte del lavoro si svolge su materiali “grezzi” forniti dal docente e sulla strutturazione di un’idea concettuale condivisa all’interno del gruppo di lavoro, in modo da orientare le scelte estetiche da effettuare per la realizzazione delle miniature. Nella seconda parte, in base al lavoro fatto su diverse tecniche di interazione – sia su texture (image-based) che su mesh (points cloud/lines) – i partecipanti sviluppano e personalizzano i materiali per la realizzazione di una breve opera di interazione Audio Video.

Riccardo GIOVINETTO

Artista, Didatta, Ableton Certified Trainer

Riccardo GIOVINETTO Artista visivo e multimediale, fisico e professore universitario. Le sue opere assumo molteplici forme come performance audio-video, installazioni e concerti. Crea sculture reattive al suono attraverso strutture digitali generate e manipolate in tempo reale, dando vita a un rinnovato rapporto tra suono e immagine.

Partecipa con il suo primo progetto solista FEMINA all’Ars Electronica Festival 2023 e, tra gli altri, al L.E.V. Matadero di Madrid.

Nel 2010 fonda OZMOTIC, un duo di musica elettronica e strumentale che oltre a collaborazioni con ensemble di musica classica e artisti internazionali tra cui Christian Fennesz, Murcof, Senking, partecipa in diversi festival italiani ed europei.

Nel campo della formazione da venticinque anni, insegna Fisica Acustica per Ingegneri del Suono presso la scuola Alto Perfezionamento Musicale di Saluzzo, è trainer certificato Ableton e docente di Sound Design e Installazione Multimediale presso il SAE Institute di Milano.

Ableton nasce a Berlino nel 1999 dagli stessi musicisti che, ancora oggi, guidano l’azienda. Ableton offre strumenti e creativi e risorse alla comunità globale di music maker per creare e produrre musica e suonare dal vivo. Questi strumenti includono software e hardware tra cui Live, un software che combina le tecnologie tradizionali dello studio con la libertà di lavorare senza timeline; Push uno strumento hardware per suonare e comporre con Live; Link, una tecnologia che consente a più dispositivi di suonare a tempo insieme tramite una connessione wireless e Note. Piattaforme come Loop, Learning Music e Learning Synths permettono inoltre di condividere ed esplorare idee musicali.
Oggi Ableton conta all’incirca 500 dipendenti sparsi in tutto il mondo, che lavorano insieme per creare strumenti che possano ispirare le persone a iniziare o migliorare il loro percorso di music maker.
